(if applicable) The Department of Statistics to the Government of the Republic of Lithuania and Lithuanian Labour Exchange are the institutions providing data to the AIKOS. Centre of Information Technologies of Education (subordinate to the Ministry of Education and Science) is the institution responsible for the administration of the AIKOS.

Programme Description
General and specific objectives
The Open Information, Counselling and Guidance System (AIKOS) (www.aikos.smm.lt) is the main portal on learning opportunities in Lithuania. Development of the AIKOS in 2005–2008 was financed by the Ministry of Education and Science (state budget) and the EU structural funds. The AIKOS website contains general information and descriptions of:
1. Study Programmes: University study programmes, College study programmes, Vocational education and training programmes, etc.
2. Education and Science Institutions: Higher education institutions (Universities, Colleges), Vocational education and training institutions, General education schools, Research institutions, etc.
3. Qualifications: vocational qualifications and qualification degrees.
4. Forms of Education Certificates: Higher education diplomas, Vocational education and training diplomas and certificates, etc.

AIKOS is developed for the 3 main target groups: pupils at general education schools, applicants for the vocational and higher education schools, individuals seeking to change or receive further qualification. The portal also provides information and search possibilities intended to the following groups of users: career information (guidance) counsellors, employers, the disabled, etc. The portal provides opportunity to search for necessary information when choosing a profession, training or studies, or planning a personal career: information about occupations, admission rules of vocational and higher education schools, classifications, Europass certificate supplements, education and labour market statistics, etc. AIKOS also contains information about occupations, admission rules of vocational and higher education schools, the labour market and other statistics, classifications, Europass certificate supplements, etc.

Part of the portal information is tranlsated into English.Further development and maintenance of AIKOS is targeted at insuring better integrity and interconnection between data sources, seeking better data quality and user satisfaction, developing spaces for individualised and interactive career work.

 
Priority actions
Further development and maintenance of AIKOS: strengthening links between AIKOS and PLOTEUS portal, developing of the online counselling tools, quality issues.
 
Management and coordination
Ministry of Education and Science is responsible for the overall development of the AIKOS: coordinates the process of providing the database with data from the official Registers in the field of education, from the Department of the Statistics to the Government of the Republic of Lithuania and Lithuanian Labour Exchange.
Centre of Information Technologies of Education (subordinate to the Ministry of Education and Science) is the institution responsible for the administration of the AIKOS.

More effective information, guidance and counselling services provided to the various groups of users in Lithuania and throughout Europe.
